Approving a women’s shoe sample is an important decision for any importer, retailer or private-label brand. A careful review before bulk production helps prevent avoidable changes, protect your launch schedule and keep the final collection consistent.
At Peix Shoes, we support the development of heels, high-heel sandals, flats and loafers. The following checklist helps buyers review a sample clearly and communicate decisions efficiently.
  1. Check the Overall Shape and Proportion
Place the sample on a flat surface and review the toe shape, vamp proportion, heel position and overall balance. Compare it with the approved reference image or sketch. For a private-label collection, confirm that the proportions match the intended market position, whether that is elegant, minimal, modern or fashion-led.
  1. Confirm Fit and Comfort
Test the sample with the intended size range in mind. Check the opening, toe room, heel grip, instep support and insole comfort. A sample should be reviewed on a real foot where possible, because visual appearance alone cannot confirm fit.
If adjustments are needed, list them in one clear approval document. This helps the pattern team make changes in an organized way instead of receiving conflicting instructions over several rounds.
  1. Review Materials and Color
Confirm the upper material, lining, insole, outsole and hardware. Check whether the texture, shine and color match the approved specification under natural and indoor light.
If the buyer requests a different material, color or finish after sampling, the development schedule may need to be recalculated. Early confirmation keeps production planning more predictable.
  1. Inspect Workmanship
Review stitching, edge finishing, bonding, heel attachment, ornament placement and symmetry. Look at both shoes together and compare the left and right sides. Small details are especially important for pointed heels, embellished sandals and other styles with visible finishing.
Before bulk production, buyers can also arrange their own inspection or appoint a third-party inspection company to review workmanship, sizing, packaging and order quantity.
  1. Confirm Branding and Packaging
For private-label projects, check the logo size, position and application method. Confirm the shoe box, tissue paper, labels, stickers and shipping marks before production starts.
Custom logo, shoe box and packaging services are available from 160 pairs per color. Confirming these details early reduces the risk of incorrect packaging during shipment.
  1. Review MOQ, Sample Cost and Timing
For custom styles, the MOQ starts from approximately 160 pairs per design and color. The sample fee is USD 100 and can be refunded or credited after a bulk order is placed. The first sample is usually completed in approximately 10 days after complete design information and materials are confirmed.
A clear approval should include the final color, size range, quantity, packaging requirements and requested delivery schedule.
  1. Protect Your New Design
If the design is exclusive or commercially sensitive, ask for written confidentiality protection or an NDA before sharing production files. Keep approved artwork, measurement charts and final comments in one record so both sides work from the same version.
A Clear Approval Creates a Smoother Production Run
The best sample approval is specific, written and complete. Send the reference style, target quantity, material preference and target price together, then confirm all requested changes in one round whenever possible.
