Colour and material approval is a frequent source of bulk-production disputes. Buyers should define the physical reference, lighting condition, finish, tolerance and approval owner before production begins.
Approve a physical reference
A screen image is not a reliable colour standard. Keep a signed or clearly versioned swatch for the upper, lining, outsole, heel and packaging where relevant. Note the finish: matte, glossy, brushed, metallic or textured.
Check under more than one light
Review the material in daylight and the lighting used by the selling channel. Colour can shift between lots and surfaces. Ask how the supplier controls lot separation and how a variance is reported.
Test the material on the actual construction
A swatch may look right but behave differently when folded, lasted, stitched or glued. Review the material on the shoe, especially at toe curves, heel counters, straps and seams. For high-heel sandals, inspect stretch and edge finishing.
Record tolerances and substitutions
